Matanuska Glacier State Park
The Matanuska Glacier State Recreation Site, managed by Long Rifle Lodge, is located one mile
south of the Lodge at Mile 101 on the Glenn Highway National Scenic Byway. The rec site has
12 campsites on a gravel loop road, water pump, toilets, fire pits, and picnic tables. Fees are
$15.00/night, with a 15-day limit. Limit of two vehicles per site.

There is a large paved rest area which accommodates RVs. It has toilets, an interpretive shelter
with picnic tables, and a scenic viewpoint. Overnight parking is $10.00. The Edge Nature Trail
begins at the rest area and provides a 20-minute walk through the forest to glacier viewing
platforms.

State Park Cabin Rental
Long Rifle offers one secluded log cabin at the state recreation site that is accessible by car. It
has a private deck, woodstove for heat, table & chairs, 2 double beds (no linen provided),
refrigerator, microwave, and a private latrine. In summer, water is supplied by the campground
pump. In winter, renters must provide their own water and firewood. No smoking allowed.
